UrFooz Announces NBA License For Avatar Goods

licensed apparel based on NBA players for virtual world clients like There.com, although Beelya does not hold any official league licenses.

The UrFooz deal is unique at this point in that the NBA appears to have made a deal with a specific platform with its own avatar system, rather than a deal with a third party that could then service several clients. The fact that UrFooz avatars are compatible with several different popular social network destinations like Facebook and MySpace probably has something to do with why NBA opted to close a deal with them, too. The NBA's goal here may be saturating as much of the social Web as it can with its brand presence, which is admirably forward-looking if true.
