Never mind how Farrah Fawcett died (hmm, explain that to a 12-year-old), she died. On Thursday of last week to be exact. Now, it's time to react -- with pangs of nostalgia, with tears, and with virtual goods.
WeeWorld, home of the increasingly popular MeeWee portable avatar (there have been 29 million MeeWee avatars created since the app launched in 2007) and virtual world, has created Farrah Fawcett gear to honor the actress. The company has also created Michael Jackson gear.
Created "in their memory," according to a company rep, Farrah's legacy
lives on in her signature mountain of hair, which will set a MeeWee
back 200 points, or 40 cents. Michael Jackson, who passed away the same
day, can also be memorialized via a "I [heart] MJ" placard one's MeeWee
can tote. That is being offered at no charge.
The items just launched, so it's too early to have a sense of adoption. WeeWorld reps tell us, however, that the MJ placard is a more popular item out of the gate.
