Today the mobile social network and games portal Cellufun announced that its FunCoins virtual currency would now be available for purchase by users in 25 different countries worldwide. Users can now purchase FunCoins in a one-click transaction from their mobile phones, with the cost of the transaction billed to a user's monthly mobile billing statement.
Cellufun CEO Neil Edwards says that when the rollout is complete, any mobile consumer on Earth will be able to purchase Cellufun FunCoins. Current FunCoins one-click purchase coverage includes North America, most of the European Union, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, South Africa, Thailand, and Turkey. The next territories to receive the rollout will be China and South America.
Cellufun sells a variety of virtual goods through the social games it offers on its portal, as well as avatar customization pieces and charity virtual goods. All virtual items in Cellufun are purchased with FunCoins. One FunCoin is worth roughly $.01. Cellufun is a Web-based portal that allows the network to reach any mobile user with a data plan and a Web browser.
